Transformation Architect

What is a transformation architect? It’s not just a cool title. It’s the key to impactful change.

A Transformation Architect is what will help you transform your organization into a successful one.

There are many organisations that begin transformation initiatives with well defined strategic plans and roadmaps. The main challenge to achieveing lasting change is not the plan, but how we get the people in the organisation to align with the plan.

A TA has the understanding that organizational change cannot simply be imposed through structural changes alone.  But through the collaboration and interactions among people. They connect people, processes, and technologies to drive organizational change.

They will keep top of mind the holistic view of the organization and ask:

→ How do we get all of the people involved?

→ How can we build trust with our people and not just create new rules?

Transformation Architects will engage with the people impacted by change, understand local culture and adapt their strategies to enable change.

The change is felt to be authentic and achievable.

The role of a TA is not to control each step of the process, but rather develop an environment in which people are empowered to question, experiment and openly discuss concerns regarding the change initiative.

A TA needs 4 key roles:

→ Orchestrator: Putting the right people in place to make change happen.

→ Bridge Builder: Building high-performing teams to collaborate in an agile way e.g. HR & IT

→ Planner and Architect: Working with the Business Architect on Capabilities.

→ Navigator: Mapping Complexity, Strategy, Value, Performance, Processes and PEOPLE.

Transformation architects ensure that change is not viewed as just a project with an end-date.

Change is how people operate and think, enabling them to transition from short term gains to long-term sustainable success.

How do you bridge the gap between strategy and people?
